Career-Related Learning
At Newtown Primary, we believe that career-related learning plays a vital role in raising aspirations and broadening children's understanding of the world of work. Through meaningful and age-appropriate experiences, we aim to inspire our pupils to recognise the wide range of opportunities available to them, both now and in the future.
Throughout the year, children are given the opportunities to meet and engage with a variety of people from different industries and professions. These encounters help pupils to explore careers they may not have previously considered and to understand how learning in school connects to real-life roles and workplaces.
Our main aims are for children to be able to:
- Develop an awareness of a wide range of careers and industries;
- Understand the skills, qualities and attitudes needed for different types of work;
- Begin to recognise their own strengths, interests and aspirations;
- Develop confidence, ambition and a positive attitude towards future learning and work.
